Parenthood: Ancestral Roots and Collective Journeys 🪴

Why would we think being a kid is somehow “less” than being an adult? Babies, children, teens all add tons of value to our lives. A common experience I share with new parents is a new sense of depth and purpose. I felt a new visceral vertical connection from all of my ancestors going back to the emergence of life from lava rock to the species that evolve beyond homo sapiens in the hopeful millions of generations to come. Regardless of the activities of this particular DNA collection, I see how I’m part of a much, much larger evolutionary movement that has been using me, especially my sexuality, for this purpose all along. And I feel a “horizontal” connection to all the other parents out there, our contemporary community with shared experiences.
